Well, the opportunity has once-again come upon me. I am venturing out again on my Harley to take a trip around the Pacific North-West. This time, however, I am taking a counter-clockwise route - hitting Sturgis as my first (final) destination.
There are only three locations on this trip that I wanted to see; Sturgis SD - for it's craziness and the people that come from different countries, Livingston MT - for my friends Rich and Raea (also Christopher and Josh), and Graham WA - for my friend Jerry (we were roommates in Germany in the next-most-earliest of the 80's).
Just some quick notes.
8/2 I had some work done to the bike while at Sturgis.
8/4 Headed up to Livingston. Did some chillaxin and floated the Yellowstone river.
8/9 So, I survived three days at Sturgis then headed up to Livingston Montana to visit my friends Rich and Raea, and their two boys Josh and Christopher (whom I haven't seen for a while and are adults now - where did the time go). I am in Missoula at the moment and will be heading to Graham Washington to visit my friend Jerry for a few days before heading South. It has been a great trip so far. This trip is on my '06 Ultra - which had tuner and exhaust upgrades at Sturgis 😎
8/10 Made my way to Graham WA to visit my buddy Jerry.
8/13 Rode down to Grants Pass, OR. Had a great time visiting Jerry over the weekend, we had a few drinks and a lot of laughs. I left his house about 11 this morning and just arrived in Grants Pass about 7 - Monday is not a good day for riding near Seattle ... or Portland, about 4 in the afternoon I was away from any large cities so the traffic was a lot lighter.
8/14 Sad to say, I made it back to San Jose. As i got closer, the stronger the urge to turn around and head back to ... anywhere outside CA. I think a actually shed a tear thinking about going back to work tomorrow - but then I started thinking about all the fun I had in Sturgis, Livingston and Graham spending time with good friends and riding the white steel horse and I began to feel better. I didn't ride as far East as I would have liked - to visit more friends - but that can be another story. On this two week ride, counter-clockwise around the Pacific Northwest, I put just over 3,500 miles on the bike. By the way, the computer and exhaust upgrades exceeded my expectations, this 88-inch motor has just shy the power of a stock 110-inch motor. My next upgrade plan is a 95- or 98-inch kit - on my next Sturgis ride (since CA doesn't play well with older bikes). Until next time - work hard, play harder! And keep the rubber side down!
