Whether you are dreaming, just going to sleep or somewhere in between, how you feel is your choice. So many people react to their circumstances emotionally that they don't think about their response and they get all wound up inside when perceive something that is happening to them as "bad" or "unlucky". I should know, I've been doing that for so long now it's habitual (buried deep in my subconscious).
Lately though, I've been exposed to people that actually consider their options before they respond to their circumstances rather than reacting to them. It's not something easy to do, when you've been doing (0r practicing) something for many years and it has become part of your subconscious, many times you've reacted to something before you even realize that you didn't make any choices - you just "did" something. Get over it, it's in the past, move on - you've got so many more things to do. If you're going to mentally hang out and ponder what just happened you're not making any room for what's currently going on around you and you're actually missing out on life - yes, life does happen that fast.
I am learning this and I will change, but how fast or how much I change is my choice - wow, what a concept. It's all about re-training my brain and changing my subconscious so that when my circumstances are happening to me I begin to respond after making my choice, my decisions are becoming more intelligent. So what if they aren't always the most intelligent decisions, it's a process and the more I make the better they get. When I make mistakes and I learn from them, I get better.
Surround yourself with people in which you see behaviors or skills that you like and that you would like have yourself. While you're learning your new behaviors and skills keep an eye out for other people that inspire you. Eventually you will be one of those people that others aspire to become.
